The Center was specifically established to pioneer a new paradigm in ICT for Development consulting, providing high-level strategic consulting at national/regional levels and working with organizations searching for Strategic ICT and IT Governance Advisory.

ICT Policy and Strategy Development

Our Policy and Strategy practice helps clients make major strategic decisions and implement business improvements in specifically as they relate to technology/ICT in both Public and Private Sectors. ICT & Business Strategy is about enabling an organization to achieve and sustain superior overall performance and returns. It is a core responsibility of business and ICT executives to encompasses a range of critical activities, from defining the organisation’s Policy on the use of ICT to refining ICT implementation strategy and Business objectives alignment and strategic performance measurement and management. Our practice helps organization deal with most complex and challenging ICT and business issues, enabling them to achieve and sustain superior overall performance and returns.

ICT Advisory Services

The Centre provides a range of services to help both public and private sector clients get the best value and the desired benefits from their investments in ICT. These services offer support to clients wherever they are in the project or investment lifecycle. For more information on each service please click on the links below. These services are delivered by a group of highly-skilled consultants with many years' experience in delivering projects and programmes and implementing and managing systems. We only act on the client-side and are wholly independent from product vendors and service providers.

Selected assignments:

National eGovernment Strategy Development - Tanzania - 2005

AeRC was contracted as the lead process consultant by the Office of the President, Public Service Management in Tanzania to initiate the development of the National eGovernment Strategy (July 2006)

RICTSP working group meeting Facilitation - 2007

AeRC was contracted by the East African Community Secretariat to facilitate all the National working group meetings in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania for the Regional ICT Support Progamme. The RICTSP is funded by the EU and implemented by COMESA/EAC.

EAC e-Government Framework - 2006

AeRC inititated and supported the development of the East African Community e-Government framework aimed at harmonizing the e-Government efforts in the East African countries. This project was supported by the UN Economic Commission for Africa and the Canadian e-Policy Resource Centre under the Canadian Fund for Africa.

Kenya e-Transaction Draft Bill - 2007

AeRC was contracted as the process consultant for the development of the draft e-Transaction Bill for the Government of Kenya as requested by the Directorate of e-Government and supported by the African ICT Strategies and USAID.

Zanzibar eLearning Project - 2008

AeRC in partnership with the Zanzibar Ministry of Health, the Zanzibar Nursing Association and the Aga Khan University have established an eLeaning project for nurses in Zanzibar. AeRC designed and implemented the technology including the network design and deployment; eLearning platform design and development and capacity building in five dispensaries in Unguja and Pemba.
