IT Security Training Applauded For Its Comprehensiveness

Securing IT systems in the corporate environment has becomes complex business as hackers continuously break into IT systems to frustrate operations and in some cases illegally access information. This was the premise of the recent Corporate IT Security training conducted by the African eDevelopment Resource Center  the leading Technology training institute in East Africa and Central Africa.

The training that was hosted at the Centre’s Nairobi campus, equipped participants with skills and tools to secure corporate IT systems from malicious hacker intrusions. Other topics covered in the training included Risk Assessment, Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing.

15 participants from Kenya, Tanzania, Madagascar, Rwanda, and Zimbabwe attended the three-day training. Randriamifidisoa Hajaniaina of African Development Bank Madagascar, who participated in the training appreciated the course for its comprehensiveness. “The course is very good and covers a wide scope of security issues, however, the three days were very short for me. I wish they could extend the span of time to give us the room to understand more because of the complexity of the issues we were studying.”

Though the course was comprehensively covered, Hajaniaina said there was need for his fellow IT professionals to read more and do more practical IT security exercises to be able to develop defense systems that are not vulnerable to usual attacks that come from either internal or external attackers;” I have learnt a lot from this course, it has given me the skills and thirst to know more. I think I need to read a lot and do more practicals in order to be able prevent the usual IT security problems like hacking.”The three day course ended with a lot of enthusiasm with participants asking the Center to advanced courses on Corporate IT Security to help them get equipped for the every day IT eventualities: “the training was very interesting to me and we need more such trainings to advance our skills, “said a trainee from Tanzania who sought anonymity during the last day of the course.
